He started with Ruthin as a 11-year-old youth and he has also played for many other clubs here in the Vale of Clwyd and beyond. He has strong knowledge of local football and is a very promising young manager. Whilst inexperienced he knows what he wants and demands it from his players. He is committed to producing and attracting local players to Ruthin and has the respect of the footballing community as a whole

Founded 1880

Football in Ruthin dates back to 1880 when they reached the final of the Welsh Cup, only to lose 2-1 to Cefn Druids. However, the present club was founded as recently as 1951.

Honours include winning the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1967 and 1973. Ruthin have played much of their football in the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) as indeed their reserves and development squad still do. In 1979 the club began to climb towards their present position when they won promotion to what was then the first division.

A third team was created in 1978 and Ruthin still have three senior teams to this very day. Their youth system was set up in the 80’s and still forms the basis for the club’s success. Many of the current squad are products of this youth system.

Ruthin were promoted to the Cymru Alliance in 1991-92 after finishing runners up in the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) Premier Division and winning the Premier Division Cup the same year.

They were ever present in the Cymru Alliance for 21 years until they were relegated at the end of the 2013 season.

They won the WNL Premier League Cup in 2014 and matched their 1992 result last season by gaining promotion and winning the Premier League Cup for the second time in three years.

The third place achieved in 2003 and 2004 represents the best Huws Gray Alliance position to date.
