GUILSFIELD

OPINION OF YOUR CLUB’S PERFORMANCE LAST SEASON:

We underperformed last season in too many games and this was reflected in the league table. We didn’t score anywhere near enough goals and that’s something we’re trying to rectify ready for the season opener. The only plus was our welsh cup run, getting to the quarter finals and losing to eventual winners Bala town.

AMBITIONS FOR NEXT SEASON:

Top 6 would be great with the league being so strong. We have one of the smallest budgets in the league but I’m sure we will punch above our weight again. Everyone wants good cup runs and we’re no different, on our day we can beat anyone. If we can do the above and the lads enjoy playing  football for me and the club, I’ll be very happy.

NEW PLAYERS:
Asa Hamilton (Buckley), Iwan Matthews (Llanrhaeadr), Andy Wycherley (TNS– loan), Curtis Weetman (n/a)

GROUND YOU LOOK FORWARD TO VISITING AND WHY:
Caernarfon and Rhyl. Proper football grounds that give you that buzz as a player/manager as soon as you arrive, Always good crowds and decent pitches.

PLAYERS YOU LOOK FORWARD TO WATCHING AND WHY:
I’ve been lucky that since I’ve taken over our attacking/creative players have been fit and sharp in training and games, a pleasure to watch. Some have the potential to turn some heads this season but I’ll keep those names to myself! Three of them have come back to pre season fitter and sharper than they’ve ever been and they’ll be like new signings for us.

Players I’ve played against in the league who have always been top draw are Darren Thomas and Nathan        Craig and again they will be key players for Caernarfon.

WHO DO YOU SEE AS IN CONTENTION FOR THE LEAGUE TITLE:
Several clubs will be in with a shout this season with big name signings coming in and large budgets to work with. Everyone is trying to keep up and improve and its great for the league, its only going to improve it. But with big budgets comes big pressure so it will be interesting who gets a good start and handles the pressure over 28 games. Personally I think it will come down to Airbus and Caernarfon.

HOW COMPETITIVE DO YOU THINK THE LEAGUE WILL BE NEXT SEASON:
Very competitive. Looking through the fixtures list, there’s not one easy game.

TEAM WHO COULD SURPRISE A FEW: Denbigh.
Made some good signings and went on a good run in the 2nd half of last season.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:
Maybe I’m biased but I believe in our squad and I think we may surprise a few this season we have several that could have great seasons.  Opposition players who could have big seasons:  Wes Baynes (Airbus) Craig Pritchard, Kristian Pierce (Denbigh), Steve Lewis (Holywell)  and Jamie Breese (Caernarfon)

OPINION OF THE LEAGUE:
Very strong. Strongest I’ve seen it

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ANY CHANGES:
More exposure for the league. It’s very competitive this season and going off the attendances last year very popular with fans more so than the Welsh premier on certain weekends. Sgorio should look at getting some of the big games on tv. Caernarfon vs Rhyl for example would be a huge pull in my opinion, also some big derbies in the league like Holywell and Flint so why not showcase these??

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD:
Looking forward to the challenge this season and battling it out with some top  managers.
