Last seasons Huws Gray Alliance manager of the season Steve Halliwell looked forward to the new season with the league website

Opinion of your Clubs performance last season:

My overall opinion of last season’s performance is looked at with great pride. To finish 3rd and win the North-East Wales Cup after what had happened during the season, with losing our previous Manager and numerous players, is a mark of the strength of the club from top to bottom.

On a personal level, being named Cymru Alliance Manager of the Season is one of the proudest moments of my life, alongside Max Peate and Tom Freeman being named in the Team of the Season, which is a fantastic achievement.

Ambitions for next season:

I am striving to exceed the points total achieved last season, if we could accomplish this we will have had another incredible season.

I am really looking forward to the Welsh Cup, so a good run in that is another aim of mine as well as the League Cup and defending the North-East Wales Trophy.

Also, I am looking to promote some more players from the Reserves Team, where there is some up and coming talent shining through already.

New Players:

We have brought in 5 new players to strengthen the squad; Aaron Edwards from Guilsfield, Joe Williams from Porthmadog, Jack Edwards and Adam Davies from Penycae and the returning Simon Smith from Coaching in Dubai for Liverpool.

Ground you look forward to visiting and why:

Caernarfon and Rhyl as they have two of the best grounds in Welsh football, both having a huge home support.

Players you look forward to watching and why:

All of my players, to see how they develop and excel during the season.

Additionally, Nathan Craig and Darren Thomas at Caernarfon, as these have been two of the best players we have come across.

Who do you see as in contention for the League title:

Airbus, Rhyl and Caernarfon. In my opinion, if you finish above these, you will be the League Champions.

Team who could surprise a few:

Ruthin Town, who have great team spirit, local lads playing and have made some shrewd signings.

Players to watch out for:

This is a difficult one as there are so many good players in this League, every team has a ‘match winner’. Our centre half pairing of Jack Jones and Max Peate are as good as anything in this League, so this is who I will be watching!

Opinion of the League:

This is the strongest and most competitive League there has ever been at this Level. Every single week is going to be a battle and all teams will strongly compete against each other.

Would you like to see any changes:

I would like to be able to name 7 substitutes.

Anything else you would like to add:

I am so excited about my first full season as a Cymru Alliance Manager to challenge some extremely good Managers and Clubs.

I feel privileged to be a part of this outstanding League and to have the full support of the Chairman and the entire Committee of Gresford Athletic, as well as full backing from the players, without these, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
