Holyhead Hotspur

Carl Jones  – Goalkeeper

Carl is among the finest goalkeepers in the league. His distribution and composure is second to none  and he will provide an important base to the back line this season. He is fearless and will happily play ‘sweeper keeper’ when asked. Also a big character in and around the club.

Dan Williams – Goalkeeper

Son of goalkeeping coach Mervyn Williams - Dan at the age of 16 belies his years with the confidence and ability he shows. Has had some fantastic performances in the reserves pre season fixtures. A great prospect for the future and came on as substitute in the last league fixture v Caersws last season.

Dan McGinniss – Defender

Joined us a season ago from Trearddur Bay FC and this young talented defender has made the right sided berth his own. Makes great overlapping runs.  Joining Bangor Academy as a coach as well as coaching Hotspur youth.

Rees Brown  – Defender

A product of Holyhead Hotspur Youth returning to us. Reece is a strong tall and powerful left sided central defender who will cover that important position in the back line.

Alex Jones- Defender 

A tall and strong tackling central defender who reads the game well, and can cover a midfield role if needed. Likes to get up for corners and scores a number of goals this way. Holds an FAW ‘C’ coaching badge.

Caio Hywel – Defender

A graduate of Bangor City’s successful U19’s Development side who were crowned national WPL Development champions in 2015/16. Caio is a ball playing defender with great athleticism and communication skills.

Kenleigh Owen – Defender

KC came back to us a while ago after two seasons with Oldham Athletic. Pace and trickery in abundance as well as an eye for goal even when he is playing as a left sided defender or in midfield.  Scored some spectacular goals.

Corey Jones- Midfield   

This Welsh Premier experienced and cool headed central or right sided defender has strengthened our defence. Transferred to us three seasons ago  from MBi Llandudno after several seasons at Bangor City FC.

Dean Garmey - Midfield

Dean a valuable member of the squad with great self belief and ability. Closes the opposition down quickly and denies them space.  A box to box player so valuable in the midfield of any team. Holds an FAW ‘C’ coaching badge.

David Williams – Defender

Product of the Youth Development of the club and a young 16 old player who belies his years with his mature defending and distribution. One to watch for the future.

Chris Jones – Midfield

Highly experienced ex Leeds United, Bournemouth, Limerick and Bangor City player who will add much to the quality of the squad. A great signing with a proven pedigree.       

Jamie Roberts – Midfield

An energetic  midfielder who always seems to find space on the pitch. He has a wide range of passing skills and  the ability to score spectacular goals. This is his second spell with the club previously playing 34 matches and scoring 7 goals. A mature young man carving a place for himself in the Ynys Mon squad.

Jamie Mc Daid – Midfield

In his second season with us this right sided mid fielder has great pace and guile. Played at the highest level in Wales and is a great addition to the squad.

Tomos Clarke – Midfield 

Tomos’s previous clubs are Oldham Athletic, Colwyn Bay, Porthmadog and is joined us last season from Glantraeth FC with whom he won the Welsh Alliance League Division One title. Tom is a dominant presence comfortable in any defensive or midfield position.  Taking his FAW ‘C’ coaching badge this year.

Harry Lewis – Midfield

An 18 old who has already made several first team appearances and is tenacious and hard working. Harry will no doubt be in the starting line up in a season or two.

Harry Galeotti – Striker

Another product of the successful Bangor City academy. He is a gifted attacker who can operate anywhere across the front line. His skills, pace and eye for goal helped him net 14 goals for Llangefni Town FC last season where he was their stand out performer.

Luke Mc Givern – Striker

A striker with a real eye for goal. He has been top scorer for Amlwch Town FC for the past few seasons and is also a member of the Ynys Mon Island games squad. He has been massively impressive since joining us and could form a great partnership with our other talented front men.

John  Littlemore – Striker

We are delighted to welcome John to our midst. Played for Bangor City and recently Cardiff Met in the Welsh Premier League last season while studying for his degree. Strong and powerful he will be another asset up front and form a strong partnership with Mel.

Curt Williams – Striker

A powerful striker with bags of energy and guile.  He returns to the club after a spell at neighbours Trearddur Bay

United. He has just recovered from a serious knee injury and again will be a very big character in the changing room and also among the supporters.

Mel Mc Ginnness – Striker

Pacey and skilful a real test for any defence. Will score goals a plenty on the ground or in the air, and a willing runner who will never give up on a through ball.

Darren Garmey-Manager

Darren was appointed assistant manager in season 2012/3 after a successful number of seasons as a first team player, and now deserves the right to manage his beloved Hotspur. A product of the youth and reserve system he managed the reserves for several years. Just completing his  FAW ‘B’ coaching badge.

Nick Dumbarton – Assistant Manager

Appointed assistant manager this year,  Nick too is just completing his FAW ‘B’ coaching badge. Played for Hotspur for many seasons at all levels and is also on the coaching staff of Bangor academy.

Tony Maguire- Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist

Tony in his second season after many years of service with Neville Powell at Bangor City FC. Highly qualified and as a local boy is thrilled to be on the staff of his home town club.

Mervyn Williams-Goalkeeper Coach                                                               

Vastly experienced and highly respected goalkeeper coach after a very successful playing career.  Spends a lot of time, for which we are very grateful, coaching the young keepers in our Youth Development teams.
