Richard Harvey Goalkeeper DOB: 25/7/1982
An experienced keeper who started his career as a youngster at the Traeth. Following an operation for a long term back problem in the summer of 2014 he went on to have one of his best ever seasons. A tremendous shot stopper the Club captain was voted Supporters Player of the Season in 2014/15 for his outstanding performances which included keeping 10 clean sheets Often Port’s only keeper, the club have been indebted to Richard for his consistency over 11 seasons which included a run of 55 consecutive HGA games for the club between 2010 and 2012. His former clubs include Macclesfield and Llangefni.
Gruff John Williams Defender Midfield DOB: 22/06/1994
First played for Port in 2012, having signed from CPD Llanrug with whom he won caps at U-18 Schools level for Wales. A genuine utility player, Gruff is equally at home anywhere along the back four or in midfield. One of the most promising young players in the area he is cool under pressure and strong going forward. Developing into a dangerous free kick specialist around the box scoring some dramatic goals. He is already making his mark on the Cymru Alliance and by the start of the current season he has totalled 92 (+12) appearances for the club. Has a degree in Sport, Health and Physical Education from Bangor University.
Josh Banks Defender DOB 21/05/1992
Starting his fifth season at the Traeth, having joined Port from Welsh Alliance club Pwllheli in October 2012. An experienced pacy defender who loves to attack and is also good in the air. After making an immediate impression at the Traeth he has developed into one of the best attacking left backs in the Cymru Alliance. Last season he once again remained relatively injury free, playing in all but two of the 30 league fixtures.
Iddon Price Defender / Midfield Club Captain DOB:18/01/1991
Returned to Porthmadog in October 2014 from CPD Penrhyndeudraeth, a club he helped gain promotion to the Welsh Alliance First Division. He can play in midfield or at the back. But last season he established himself as a central defender enjoying an outstanding season which resulted in him being names the supporters Player of the Season. He is a strong, highly effective defender who is not easily outpaced and his experience in midfield has led to many Port moves starting with his accurate passes. He has also played for Nantlle Vale
Steve Bratt Defender DOB:20/10/1987
Joined Porthmadog in November 2015 from Barmouth and Dyffryn FC. He is a good old fashioned, no nonsense defender. Brought to the club to provide experience and a hard edge to the defence. Showed this uncompromising style in the games he played since joining. Well known to manager Craig Papirnyk, who played alongside him at Barmouth.
Dan Roberts Defender DOB: 14/12/1997
Joined Port in July 2016 having previously played for Wrexham FC. An exciting new signing who has impressed during pre-season. A tall, strong defender and an intelligent footballer with good technical ability. Shows great maturity in his play and is a powerful runner with the ball. A good signing and one to watch for the future.
Tomos Clarke Defender DOB: 01/08/1996
The 19 year old defender joined Port in the summer of 2016 from Glantraeth FC. A tall powerful defender with good technical ability. He will add depth to the defence. A player with good footballing skills who makes strong runs from the back. Tom was his manager’s choice at Glantraeth for 2015/16 player of the season. He was at Oldham Athletic as a youth player and gained caps for Wales at U17 level.
Iolo Hughes Defender DOB: 12/10/1995
Joined Port from Bangor in August 2016. He spent a period on loan at the Traeth during season 2015/16. A highly promising young defender from Bethel, he can play in central defence or at left back. He played his early football at the Porthmadog Academy for the U12, U14 and U16 squads before joining Bangor. He was a member of the Bangor WPL squad last season and made his WPL debut in September 2013 against Afan Lido.
Cai Parry Defender DOB: 04/11/1997
Cai signed for Port in August 2016 from Llanrug United where he gained experience playing in the Welsh Alliance. Spent time as a youth player at the Port Academy. A left sided player with an excellent left foot. He is a strong pacy runner with the ball and very composed on it. Craig Papirnyk regards him as one to watch for the future. He also spent time with Bala Town and for two years was on a scholarship with Connah’s Quay.
Ceri James Midfield DOB: 01/12/1983
First arrived at the Traeth in June 2009, returning in June 2012. He has played 37 (+20) WPL matches for Porthmadog and Welshpool and also represented Llandyrnog United, Denbigh Town and Melville United in New Zealand. He left Porthmadog for New Zealand in January 2010, where he was an instant success for the Northern League club and voted players player of the year in 2011. Directs play from central midfield with good close control and excellent distribution.
Rob Evans Midfield DOB: 24/01/1989
Re-joined Porthmadog in August 2013 from Caersws, having previously played 13 WPL games for the club on loan from Aberystwyth in 2009/10. He is a skilful, inventive midfielder from Dolgellau who loves to run at defences and has an eye for goal. Out for a lengthy period last season due to injury He started his career in the Aberystwyth academy coming through the reserves before making 30 (+28) WPL appearances for the club. He has also played for Bala in WPL.
Ywain Gwynedd Midfield DOB: 11/11/1983
The footballer/singer rejoined Port in August 2016 following a year out of the game. He last played for Caernarfon Town. He was previously with Port between 2004/06. In addition to having Welsh Prem experience with Port he also played for Llangefni in the WPL. An exciting, skilful midfielder, full of enthusiasm, quick to close down opponents and set moves in motion. He will bring experience and energy to the Port midfield.
Chris Jones Midfield DOB 09/10/1985
Rejoined Port in July 2016 from Bangor City. He has previously spent two seasons at the Traeth between 2008/10 before switching to Bangor. In his stints at Caernarfon, Llangefni, Port and Bangor he has racked up a total of 259 (+38) WPL appearances, scoring 56 goals. Well remembered is the winning Europa League goal he scored for Bangor against Finnish club Honka. He will bring great experience and know-how to the club. The talented forward was with Leeds Utd as a young player as well as Bournemouth and Limerick.
Josh Davies Forward DOB:02/04/1994
Starts his third season at the Traeth. Josh had an outstanding season in 2014/15 and was the club’s leading scorer with 22 goals. Last season was marred by injury but he still managed 8 goals in 10 starts. A young striker who has been capped for Wales at U-19 semi professional level, he possesses a rasping shot .His previous clubs include Ruthin Town and Llandyrnog.
Cai Jones Forward DOB: 03/10/1992
Rejoined Porthmadog in September 2014 from Caernarfon Town. Made his WPL début for Port as a 17 year-old coming off the bench in Tomi Morgan’s first game in charge against Bangor City in February 2009. He had previously impressed in a successful Porthmadog Academy team and for the Reserves. Capped for Welsh Schools at Under 18 level. He went on to make 11 (+10) WPL appearances for the club. In the 2010/11 season he made 18 (+18) HGA appearances for Port before signing for Caernarfon Town where he played for three seasons.
Julian Williams Forward DOB: 03/04/1995
Joined Port in August 2016 after spending a season on loan from Rhyl FC in 2015/16. He made his first team debut for Rhyl in April 2015. A quick, skilful forward with a dangerous left foot shot. Has a great attitude and works hard for the team. He spent most of 2014/15 season on loan at Holyhead Hotspur and also spent time on loan with Holywell Town. His former clubs include Llandudno and Llanrwst United
Asa Hamilton Forward DOB: 21/01/1992
Joined Port in October 2015 from Rhayader Town where he scored 4 goals in 6 games during a brief stay. Scored on debut for Port at Guilsfield. A quick, strong and determined striker who makes life difficult for defenders holds the ball up well and is always looking for every opportunity to hit the target. Jamie McDaid Forward DOB:29/03/1994
Jamie re-joined Porthmadog in February 2016 from Caernarfon Town. In his first spell at Port, from 2010-12, he made 33(+17) appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals. A pacy skilful forward, comfortable at the front or in a wide role. He has a keen eye for goal. During his previous spell at the Traeth he was capped for Wales at U-18 level. He has also played for Holyhead Hotspurs and Bangor City.
Craig Papirnyk Manager
Craig joined Porthmadog in August 2013 as a player and later player coach from his home town club Barmouth and Dyffryn FC. In May 2014 he succeeded Gareth Parry as club manager and went on to enjoy an outstanding first season in that role. He immediately set about rebuilding the squad and the coaching team, proving that he possessed an exceptional eye for talent and brought in several young players who have gone on to make their mark at the Traeth. He has shown a keen tactical brain and his excellent man management has enabled him to get the very best out of a small squad. Craig’s previous clubs also include Bala Town and Ruthin Town and as a 22 year-old player-manager he lead Barmouth to the Gwynedd League title in 2006/07, taking the club into the third tier of Welsh football for the first time in 35 years
Guy is a key figure in Craig’s backroom staff since joining Port in September 2014. He combines duties as assistant manager and academy director. He holds a coaching position with the Welsh Football Trust and is the Football Development Officer for the NWCFA area. He is an experienced, highly motivated and qualified coach having been Academy Director, Community Officer and Reserve team manager with a number of clubs including, Bala Town, Cefn Druids and Wrexham FC. He holds an UEFA ‘A’ Licence and is a Level One and Level Two FAW Coach Educator. He has also worked with North Wales Regional Squads. In his playing career his former clubs include Penley, Rhos Aelwyd and Gresford and he had trials with Shrewsbury Town
